GENERAL SUMMARY

Over the last few decades the Modem systems group at Qualcomm has been instrumental in driving the mobile communication revolution which has touched every aspects of our modern life. From the early days of CDMA to 3G UMTS to 4G LTE , LTE Advanced and now onto 5G NR, Qualcomm modem systems group has been a key player in moving these technologies from concept to lab to actual mass scale real life deployments. You now have an opportunity of joining this team which drove the 4G LTE based smartphone revolution and is now best positioned to expand into new areas such as 5G NR, IoT, Vehicular communication(V2X). You can work in areas as diverse as 3GPP standardization efforts (in RAN2 and RAN4), high level architecture studies, modem algorithm design and development, Machine Learning and its application to WWAN Radio design, power efficient design, verification and commercialization. Get in on the ground floor of these new emerging technologies and help shape the future.As part of Modem Software team, you will have an opportunity to design, drive, validate and optimize, cutting edge modem power saving techniques and features, to ensure our leadership in modem roadmap and competitive edge can be maintained.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

+ MS in Electrical engineering with Digital Communications and/ Information Theory emphasis.

+ 2+ years of work experience preferably in NR or LTE

+ Communication theory

+ Programming in C/C++ and Matlab

+ Understanding of more than one of the following technologies: NR, LTE, UMTS and GSM.

+ Ability to program effectively in C/C++, and Matlab.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Strong debugging experience and log analysis

+ Experience in RF interfaces, RF front end, and layer 1 procedures will be valuable.

A successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

+ Validate and Optimize Modem Power Features from SW/FW/RF / HW perspective

+ Debug performance and Power issues due and come up with solutions across different layers

+ Theoretical analysis and simulation of features, algorithms, and implementation choices

+ Presenting & documenting specification, designs, and other results to cross disciplinary teams across geolocations

+ Come up with various tools to automate test cases and its analysis

+ Deploy some of the new ML techniques to enable smart analysis and data learning

+ Supporting the implementation and commercialization of power features

+ Generate test builds for make modifications to software to try our studies and integrate changes from technology teams when features are ready

Physical Requirements

+ Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

+ Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

+ Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

+ Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

+ Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Bachelors – Computer Science, Bachelors – Engineering, Bachelors – Information Systems

Work Experiences:

1+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
