GENERAL SUMMARY

Qualcomm’s XR team is seeking a Cloud Services Lead to join a talented and innovative team developing the next generation of Augmented and Virtual reality (XR) technologies. The Cloud Services Lead will drive the architecture, development and deployment of Computer Vision (CV) and AI based perception services in the cloud that enable and enhance developer-facing XR SDK product(s). You will work closely with the XR SDK architects to identify perception services and building blocks that may be deployed on the cloud, lead the design effort for such services, and continue to provide engineering leadership through deployment and commercialization. You must have a working knowledge of CV and AI algorithms, a good understanding of factors to consider for cloud deployment, such as latency, privacy, power requirements on the client, etc., and experience in deploying such services in the cloud. Communications skills are key to success in this role, you must possess verbal and written skills that convey complex information to audiences with differing knowledge levels including high level internal constituents and have the ability to develop strong rapport and credibility to resolve conflicts and promote ideas persuasively and collaboratively. You will work with product managers and program managers to drive product release requirements and schedules, negotiate, influence, and build consensus on priorities, and successfully drive implementation and deployment of cloud features into the product. You must be prepared to make decisions with imperfect information, know how to lead without authority and be comfortable managing in ambiguity, and complexity.Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:• 10+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.• 3-5 years’ experience as a Solution Engineer/Architect deploying Computer Vision solutions on the cloud.• Proven experience with omnichannel delivery concepts (Android, AR/VR, Linux, 5G, 802.11c/d/x)• Proven experience with current web technologies (REST APIs, GraphQL, CDNs, CI/CD, etc.)• Hands-on experience deploying cloud solutions• Familiarity with cloud-based service architectures, deployment models, caching layers, performance metrics and security• Experience with distributed Computer Vision and AI solutionsDevelops, creates, and modifies general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions. Designs software or customizes software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team. Modifies existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Stores, retrieves, and manipulates data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements. Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.The responsibilities of this role include:• Working independently with little supervision.• Making decisions that are significant in impact; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).• Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short- or long-term memory.• Exercising exceptional creativity to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products/processes without established objectives or known parameters.• Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.• Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.The responsibilities of this role do not include:• Financial accountability (e.g., does not involve budgeting responsibility).Principal Duties & Responsibilities• Gathers, integrates, and interprets information across sub-systems from a variety of sources in order to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.• Serves as a technical expert within area of focus.• Identifies gaps in design, effort, etc., and closes the gaps.• Identifies risks associated with designs, approaches, and other work efforts.• Collaborates with others inside and outside of project team to accomplish project objectives.• Solves complex technical problems that affect significant areas of product.• Makes decisions based on incomplete, contradictory, and ambiguous requirements and information that affect policies and multiple teams in the software development process.• Manages project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for larger projects.• Acts as a tech lead on projects and owns the outcome of the project.• Leads others with technical credibility.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors – Computer Science, Bachelors – Engineering, Bachelors – Information Systems

Work Experiences:

3+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. ,7+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.

Work Experiences:
