Under the general direction of the Chief of the Office of Transportation Technology Research, a Supervising Transportation Electrical Engineer, the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer (Specialist) is responsible for providing technical assistance to internal and external customers who manage and operate modal and multimodal systems to improve safety, equity, and efficiency. Examples of modal systems range from Mass Transportation, Rail, Aeronautics, Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Walking. As a project manager, the incumbent ensures that assigned projects are completed within scope, cost, schedule, budgeted resources, and departmental standards and practices. In addition to contracted research, the incumbent may perform in-house evaluations of transportation technologies on state highways.
