Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Project Planning (OPP), the incumbent serves as the Supervisory Senior Transportation Engineer responsible for supervising the Project Scoping Coordination Branch comprised on a professional staff of Transportation Engineers. The Project Scoping Coordination Branch is responsible for the statewide development, review, analysis and implementation of policies, programs, directives, and guidance related to Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) and other project scoping activities. This includes extensive coordination and interaction with districts and other Headquarter programs to provide effective program direction and to strengthen the links between the transportation planning, programming and project delivery processes.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
