Position Summary         

As an employee of the Sioux Manufacturing, you are expected to preset yourself in a professional manner to coworkers, other departments as well as customers and vendors. Position will provide technical support, maintenance and continuous improvements for Sioux Manufacturing’s facility and equipment.  Must correctly train and follow all required processes and procedures, while completing necessary security activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Professionally, timely and accurately work on projects assigned by the Facility and Equipment Manager (installations, preventive maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, up-grades etc.).
  • Will coordinate with and cooperatively work with engineering and maintenance to quickly and accurately problem solve equipment and/or repair production and/or facility issues including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
  • Accurately repair equipment and/or find replacement parts, supplies using manuals, internet, catalogs, technical support and/or other avenues for accurate troubleshooting.
  • Work on projects assigned by the Facility and Equipment Manager (installations, preventive maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, up-grades etc.).
  • Develop a parts list for equipment that can be used for ordering and stocking critical supplies for the equipment and facility.
  • Professionally, accurately, timely communicate with other techs, production departments, and manager to ensure equipment issues are properly resolved and working efficiently.
  • Conduct appropriate conversations, coaching, training, mentoring in your area of specialization for assisting less experienced mechanics, operators and/or management.
  • Conduct and/or assist in daily equipment inspections, preventive maintenance and facilities checks ‘s to accurately collect and record data pertaining to these activities.
  • Ensure that you have filled out and filed any and all necessary paperwork including but not limited to RFP’s, PM’s, equip manuals to certify each department can operate efficiently and successfully produce the needed production in the schedule.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Correctly, follow standard operating procedures, work processes, engineer directive and other documented work instructions.
  • Follow all safety procedures, processes, and properly maintain production equipment.
  • Continually keep all work areas including your personal workspace clean, free of safety hazards, assist other in the process as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Monitor your performance, adjust your actions in relation to others’ actions as needed.
  • Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Check and maintain machine speeds, systems, rollers, air systems, filters, oilers as required in equipment documentation and department procedures.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure quality products.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Be aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and/or training when needed and/or assigned.
  • Manage your own time and be aware of the time of others.
  • Assist with other departmental operations and/or projects as assigned and/or requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by your department lead / supervisor.

Supervision

The Industrial Maintenance Tech II will be responsible to be a supervisor in the department when the Facility and Equipment Manager is not available and/or out of the office.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the safety of people, property, and Sioux Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts to improve your skills and/or department processes.
  • Knowledge to developing constructive and working relationships with others to cooperatively work together and achieve quality products timely and support positive interactions over time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Maintenance Tech I

Required:    High school diploma or GED required, or ability to complete after hire. A Valid and current North Dakota driver’s License must be kept during employment.

Preferred:   Two (2) year technical college and/or 2 years of manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.

Maintenance Tech II

Required:    Two (2) year technical college certification in Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or other similar field of study. A Valid and current North Dakota driver’s License must be kept during employment. Ability to get forklift certified at Sioux Manufacturing in first 90-Days. Current OSHA 10 Hour Card and keep it current during employment.

Preferred:   Five (5) years of manufacturing maintenance experience. One (1) year of manufacturing supervision experience.

A blend of education and/or significant, relevant experience that gives related, current knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully navigate the position may be substituted for required education.

INTERNAL TRAINING REQUIRED

All Maintenance Standard Procedures (MNT-XXX).
Applicable Manufacturing Process Specification (MPS).
All applicable SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
Standard Procedure AAA-017 SMC Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
SMC Forklift Operators training may be required.
Safety Training as required.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Hazardous chemicals, electricity / high voltage, moving equipment / components, compressed air, gas, fluids, and/or explosive gases.
  • At minimum, lock out Tag out must be used when hazards are present, when maintenance procedures require and/or when safety policies and/or procedures dictate.
  • Hand protection, dust / chemical masks, protective clothing, and ear protection as required.
  • Safety glasses and steel toed shoes required on the production floor at all times.
  • Loose, baggy, dangling clothing, jewelry and/or accessories is prohibited in this department.
  • Correctly use overhead cranes to load and unload materials as required.
  • Correctly use gloves when handling material.
  • Must correctly adhere to all safety rules and policies.
  • Must correctly wear approved respiratory protection and /or any other protective apparatus as required by the position and duties.
  • SMC Forklift Operators License is required to be on your person to operate any Forklift.
  • Must correctly adhere to “Right to Know” and “Right to Understand” instructions in associated (SDS) Safety Data Sheets and/or Globally Harmonized System (GHS).  If there are ever any questions on any of the above information, immediately consult with your department lead / supervisor and/or Sioux Manufacturing management.
