Under general direction of the Office Chief of Statewide Planning, a Principal Transportation Planner, the Senior Transportation Engineer, Branch Chief of Statewide Modeling, is responsible for creating and managing the Department’s California Statewide Freight Forecasting and Travel Demand Model (CSF2TDM). The CSF2TDM is an estimate of current and future travel volume by mode used to inform Caltrans planning and project delivery work. The incumbent sets program objectives; defines business processes, program management, and investment pri-oritization; and is the CSF2TDM subject matter expert and coordinator.

Senior Transportation Planner Exam

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Planner Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
