Department Summary
Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide-ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management, and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary
The Analyst Programmer is a key part of a continuously improving software development team, which designs, implements, tests, deploys, and supports full-stack applications across several platforms. As a programmer on the web development team, the incumbent in this position is engaged in all team activities including meetings, planning, and retrospectives among others. Shared code ownership is achieved through documentation, teaching, and coaching as technologies and processes are introduced and refined.

The incumbent in this position will apply broad knowledge to standard and non-standard technical applications to solve a wide range of problems and accomplish tasks. The incumbent in this position must be a team player, have a keen eye for detail, have strong problem-solving skills, and should take the initiative to find solutions. This position works closely with the project managers and customers in administrative and academic units to analyze business processes and service needs to work toward viable technical solutions.

The successful candidate for this position will have proven team-based software development experience which demonstrates the ability to learn new languages and technologies.

Minimum Requirements
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

• Experience with databases including developing relational schemas and writing SQL queries.
• Writing and maintaining exceptional technical documentation.
• Experience with source control management technologies such as GIT.
• Familiarity with development workflow methodologies.
• Ability to excel in a team development environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure or Pantheon.
• Experience with software design and development for use in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with leading web content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress
• Experience with object-relational mapping.
• Experience implementing RESTful API concepts and tools such as HTTP methods and statuses, hypermedia-driven APIs, Swagger etc.
• Experience with development and collaboration tools.
