GENERAL SUMMARY

Researches, designs, develops, and optimizes video codec and computer vision systems and HW architecture, algorithms, features, logic design, modeling, and design verification. Designs, develops, implements and verifies complex video systems, HW and FW tasks including Video Encoder, Video Decoder, Computer Vision, Video Quality and Features. Performs architecture, standard study, algorithm and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development. Works with customers and analyzes customer product requirements to define for a new architecture, video and CV modules or modification of an existing design for all addressable markets including mobile, automotive, IoT, and others. Ensures KPI, systems performance, area and power metrics are met. Drives triage of problems to determine root cause and provide recommendations to fix and/or improve. The responsibilities of this role include: • Working under some supervision.• Providing some supervision/guidance to others.• Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct. • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question; may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc. • Working within prescribed budget and resources.• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).• Completing most tasks with multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.• Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.• Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.• Occasionally participating in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Applies advanced video knowledge (e.g., video codec, computer vision, video standards) and design methodology for one area within video hardware, systems, or firmware to tasks with minimal guidance; participates in and shares own perspective within domain of video expertise in design reviews and project meetings.• Contributes to multiple video subsystems and develops basic features and components in line with product proposals or roadmaps; develops and modifies design/feature requirements with minimal guidance from more experienced engineers.• Uses appropriate tools and methodology to conduct analyses (e.g., feasibility studies) of video hardware/system design.• Defines complexity and quality of video subsystem or design based on device specifications and requirements.• Collaborates with members of design engineering teams to guide engineers for video hardware/system testing needs; executes testing for video hardware interfaces independently.• Keeps up-to-date with and researches the latest industry knowledge, trends, and video standards; leverages this knowledge in making improvements to existing methods and designs.• Maintains understanding of one’s video skillset and builds understanding of other domains to ensure integration with different components.• Writes detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions to guide users and/or customers to use or implement output.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

+ Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

+ Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

+ Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors – Computer Engineering, Bachelors – Computer Science, Bachelors – Electrical Engineering

Work Experiences:

2+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Work Experiences:

2+ years of applicable video HW and/or Systems experience. ,2+ years experience working in a large matrixed organization. ,1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above). ,2+ years experience with programming (e.g., C, C++, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems. ,2+ years experience with hardware system design, system integration, schematic capture, and circuit simulation software.
