Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer and Route Managers, the Transportation Engineering Technician (TET) evaluates highway striping and signing requests in accordance with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) and other applicable guidance and policies. The incumbent performs all work for Maintenance striping orders and sign installation orders originating from Safety Traffic Investigation Reports (TIR) or Damaged Sign Reports (DSR). The incumbent manages electronic databases and files of all TIRs, DSRs, Speed Reductions Orders, Traffic Collision Reports, and the Highway Log. Incumbent assists engineers on traffic safety investigations in areas of high accident concentrations and the Transportation Systems Network (TSN)/Traffic Investigations Report Tracking System (TIRS) District Coordinator with Table C distributed to Engineers.
