GENERAL SUMMARY

Researches, designs, develops, and tests operating systems-level software and/or hardware. Designs and coordinates complex engineering projects at the system level. Performs functional decomposition to drive requirements and specifications to both hardware and software. Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system. Ensures system-level performance and power metrics are met. Drives triage of problems at the system level to determine root cause. The responsibilities of this role include:• Working independently with little supervision.• Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).• Completing tasks that do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.• Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.• Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.• Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations. The responsibilities of this role do not include:• Financial accountability (e.g., does not involve budgeting responsibility).Principal Duties & Responsibilities• Communicates with project lead and internal teams via email and direct conversation to provide status and information about impending obstacles.• Manages analyses to identify where an issue has occurred and makes recommendations for how to address the issue.• Independently gathers, integrates, and interprets information from a variety of sources (other project teams, technical leads) in order to troubleshoot issues and creates and implements a solution to those issues.• Collaborates with others inside and outside of project team to accomplish project objectives.• Participates in and offers solutions during technical conversations.• Verifies the accuracy of systems independently.• Independently designs implementation, testing, and automation of features for projects, and develops a testing framework for a feature by creating test cases, implementing the framework, and replicating or resolving complex issues.• Networks with colleagues within domain to gain insight, ideas, and connections.• Manages or reviews the results document to explain the outcome of testing and associated debugging and presents results to internal teams.• Identifies bugs in systems architecture and framework design developed by others and fixes them, makes recommendations on how to address them when appropriate, and investigates issues in order to prevent future issues.

+ Researches, designs, develops, implements, and verifies complex camera systems and HW or FW tasks (including Camera Image Signal Processor (ISP), 3A (AWB, AEC, AF), Image Quality, Features, Tuning Tools), algorithms, features, logic design, modeling, and design verification. Performs architecture, IQ modules, algorithm, and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development. Ensures image quality, systems performance, ISP area and power metrics are met.

+ Leverages understanding of most camera processing pipeline details, including how blocks affect the pipeline, and deep knowledge of multiple blocks to work independently on ill-defined tasks related to multiple functions or blocks, or one section of the camera pipeline, throughout the design cycle.

+ Collaborates with cross-functional teams to debug complex issues at a block/system level; researches new tools for debugging.

+ Works to address customer/product requirements in functionality and results; understands how to translate customer/product needs into task work.

+ Proposes and implements changes and improvements to existing and/or new features, models, or architecture to improve performance or efficiency.

+ Collaborates with team members and other teams across organizations and areas on the design, development, and optimization of camera systems, hardware, and/or software.

+ Displays deep knowledge in a specific area; acquires advanced knowledge of industry trends, and/or competitors’ products, and advances in various engineering fields related to camera products; shares knowledge with others on their team and helps less experienced engineers understand and apply advanced concepts.

+ Writes clear and detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for complex projects to guide users and/or customers to use or implement output.

+ Identifies and defines narrowly defined process improvements (e.g., scripts, workflows, new tools).

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years industry experiences in the following areas:

+ Experience with signal, image and color processing

+ Experience with C, C++, Python

+ Experience with camera image quality tuning like denoise / detail enhancement / tone-mapping / bayer processing improvement / HDR and so on.

+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

+ Over master’s degree

+ Experience with Qualcomm ISP tuning for IQ improvement.

+ Experience with camera hardware or systems design and optimization

+ Experience with Image Signal Processing design, development, implementation, and verification

+ Experience with in programming (e.g., C, C++, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems
