GENERAL SUMMARY

The TBS program develops test hardware and software enabling end-to-end testing of Qualcomm’s MDM and MSM chipsets. The TBS Common Services team enables efficient workflows for the large number of TBS hardware and software developers through designing, developing, and driving developer infrastructure. This infrastructure includes Continuous Integration/Deployment pipelines, build systems, Linux server configuration, source code control, and build artifact management. The team partners with IT organizations that manage associated backend services including Jenkins, Artifactory, Gerrit, server configuration management systems and compute clusters.The team is seeking to hire software developers interested in the Continuous Integration or Build Infrastructure domains, who have with demonstrated experience in key technology areas such as Python, CMake, Conan, Singularity, Docker, C/C++, Linux, git, and Bash.The responsibilities of this role include:• Works independently with little supervision.• Provides some supervision/guidance to other members; does not have direct reports.• Decisions are moderate in nature. Errors are detected and corrected with relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships. May require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. Role may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.• Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).• Most tasks do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach. Mistakes may result in significant rework.• Substantial creativity is needed to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.• Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem. Often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.• Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.The responsibilities of this role do not include:• Does not have financial accountability.Principal Duties and Responsibilities• Applies expert Developer Infrastructure software knowledge and develops or modifies methodology for one area to execute assignments. Applies understanding of other teams or domains; guides junior engineers in design and implementation. Leads technical conversation in design reviews and project meetings within a particular domain to meet design requirements. Owns feature design and implementation.• Designs and reviews software developed by others; identifies issues related to accuracy or reliability of design. Weighs tradeoff against loosely defined requirements and identifies solutions. Provides guidance to less experienced engineers; collaborates with cross-functional teams to design products that meet customer requirements and standards.• Develops unit test environments to test/verify code or design for a module. Works across teams to evaluate the impact of results and validate software against specifications; advises less experienced team members and engineers.• Executes the integration of software into platforms and products; provides technical expertise to resolve moderately complex issues during implementation and customer deliverables independently across functional areas. Supports cross-functional teams in product bring-up and resolution of customer/field issues.• Writes clear and detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for complex projects to guide users to use or implement output.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ 3+ years experience Python software development

+ 3+ years experience with the Linux command line environment

+ Experience with CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu or Debian Linux

+ Experience with Continuous Integration systems such as Jenkins, Jfrog pipelines, TravisCI, gitlab CI, github actions

+ Experience with supporting developer infrastructure and troubleshooting Linux systems for a large development organization

+ Experience with C/C++ application development and build tools (Cmake, conan package manager)

+ Experience with developing Python pip packages

+ Experience with Linux administration tools

+ Experience designing and interfacing to large-scale enterprise network architecture

+ Experience with Software artifact distribution infrastructure, e.g. Artifactory

+ Experience with Linux package creation and managers (e.g. rpm/yum, dpkg/apt)

+ Experience with Linux container and cloud based build infrastructure

+ Experience with Linux infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk)

+ Experience working collaboratively across horizontal structures including IT departments, development teams, and Test organizations to deploy solutions

Physical Requirements• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.• Frequently transports and install equipment up to 5 lbs.• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g. standing or sitting).• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

$129,200.00 – $193,800.00
