Hours: M-F (Flexible Hrs.)

Rate: $25—DOE

Location: Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians — Reservation

Reports to: Finance Accountant

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-years’ experience in General Ledger accounting with concentration on balance sheet account reconciliation, fixed assets, financial analysis and spreadsheet creation required.
  • Possess effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Excel, OuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of government grants and grant reporting, and accounting.
  • GAAP Accounting.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex of documents such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from tribal members, regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with the reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts in a timely, effective manner.
  • Prepares and distributes daily cash report.
  • Enters information into the General Ledger Accounts journal.
  • Balances fixed assets accounts.
  • Draft correspondences, financial, statistical, narrative, and/or other reports as requested.
  • Prepares monthly financial analysis of General Ledger Accounts for Sr. Accountant.
  • Attends regularly scheduled once-a-week meetings.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older.
  • High School graduate or equivalent education (GED) or related fields preferred.
  • Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment.
  • Must pass pre-employment (including marijuana) and random drug testing during employment.
  • Must have a valid California class C driver’s license. A background check will be required.
  • Indian preference will apply.
  • The Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians will give hiring preference to fully qualified applicants that are Mesa Grande Tribal Members.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Mesa Grande is committed to providing a safe working environment, and our drug and alcohol policies were developed to further that commitment. As you may be aware, the State of California permits the recreational use of marijuana, effective January 1, 2018. However, marijuana is still classified as an illegal drug under federal law; therefore, Mesa Grande continues to enforce existing policies prohibiting the use, possession, solicitation, and sale of illegal drugs including marijuana with or without a medical prescription. Violating these policies will lead to discipline including termination or denial of employment.

 

All employees are expected to follow the Tribal Employee Handbook of the Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians and must adhere to any additional applicable addendums.
