Overview
An open position is available in the Grill lab at Scripps Florida. The Grill lab pioneered the use of C. elegans to identify regulators of opioid receptor signaling (Wang et al, Science, 2019). By combining forward genetics, whole genome sequencing, and CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing the candidate will identify genes that influence opioid-induced behavior. A small subset of mutants that affect behavioral tolerance to repeated opioid exposure will also be studied. The candidate will become proficient in automated behavioral assays we have developed to monitor responses to opioids. The Grill lab has entered an exciting new phase in this groundbreaking line of research.
A Postdoctoral Associate is a direct pay individual in a Division 3 status. Postdoctoral Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a Scripps Research Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of six years. Postdoctoral Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Postdoctoral Associates do not have consulting privileges.
