Position Summary

The production Supervisor is responsible for production staff assigned by providing direct supervision and training.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work collectively as a team with all other Supervisors and Managers on all shifts to accomplish on-time deliveries.
• Review travelers, directives, work orders and other work instructions for accurate reporting.
• Fulfill the staff requirements for assigned areas, collaborating with Human Resources to hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff.
• Follow and provide directions consistent with documented procedures.
• Assure assigned staff is performing on work orders in a priority to meet the schedule.
• Conduct periodic appraisal reviews and applicable training in a timely and effective manner.
• Monitor employee activity to ensure all safety and other plant policies are followed.
• Communicate all issues that may affect schedule or cost and interact with support departments to ensure Production needs are being supported to meet schedules.
• Ensure system counts and receipts are being performed as required.
• Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Determine causes of operating errors and deciding courses of action.
• Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the Quality Management System in performance of duties.
• Conduct safety walk through of assigned areas and work collaboratively with the Safety Officer to make any necessary corrections.
• Maintain time and attendance for assigned personnel and verify the accuracy of reporting hours worked.
• Occasionally operate equipment to meet schedule.
• Attend meetings and training sessions when required or assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distributing of goods.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including who to communicate with regarding their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the safety of people, property, and Sioux Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts to improve your skills and/or production processes.
• Knowledge to develop constructive and working relationships with others to cooperatively work together and achieve quality products timely and support positive interactions over time.

Skills:
• Be aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.
• Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Be able to effectively communicate information to production personnel, other department supervisors, department management, and ensure accurate transition of that information.

Abilities:
• Ability to correctly train, lead, and mentor production personnel.
• Ability to manage your own time and be aware of the time of others.
• Ability to adjust actions in relation to others’ actions, instructions and/or equipment issues.
• Ability to identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in products and/or processes.
• Ability to identify the needs of others and coach, mentor, or otherwise help production personnel to improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether current processes comply with standards operating procedures, quality standards and/or documented client-provided requirements.

Technology: (software that the position may use)
• Desktop/Office suite software, HR/timekeeping software, machine specific software, and/or work-related phone apps.

COMPUTER SKILLS
• Basic Computer knowledge, use of PC workstations and individual email account required.
• Working knowledge of common software applications (Desktop/Office suite software).
• Visual manufacturing modules as necessary to perform duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must have good interpersonal relationship skills.
Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience or other related experience.
Preferred: Strong interpersonal relationship skills and manufacturing leadership experience.

A combination of education and/or significant, relevant experience that gives related and current knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully navigate the position may be substituted for required education.
