GENERAL SUMMARY

Qualcomm’s Wireless Connectivity Team in San Diego is looking for an engineer to develop RF/Digital board hardware architecture and design for Bluetooth, FM and other connectivity technologies.The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the RF product development, board hardware architecture, specification, simulation, layout, introduction into manufacturing, as well as characterization and design verification testing.Responsibilities will also include driving board hardware solutions for projects and lateral teams with an overall systems/customer use focus.Preferred Qualifications• 5+ years of design and development experience with RF products and systems which include transmitters, receivers, and frequency synthesizers in the DC to 6GHz operating frequency range with power levels up to +30dBm• Experience with the Bluetooth, FM, IEEE 802.15.4 or NFC wireless standard is a plus.• Detailed understanding of noise, thermal and emission issues• Design experience with RF discrete components as well as RFICs, amplifiers, LNAs, synthesizers, filters, VCO’s, directional couplers, transmission line modeling, and antennas• High speed digital hardware design to include PCI, PCIe, SDIO, and USBExcellent RF, analog, and digital debugging and lab skills• Proficient in schematic capture tools such as Orcad, Mentor or Cadence HDL (preferred)• Proficient in board layout design to include Density Interconnect (HDI) and surface mount technologies.• Proficient in RF Characterization and Validation.• Understanding of state-of-the-art packaging techniques such as CSP and SiP.• Developing and releasing products to manufacturing, including experience with manufacturing methods, emissions testing, regulatory and all steps necessary for a successful launch to manufacturing.• Demonstrates thorough understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones• Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving fast paced environment• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)• Proficient in using lab test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators to develop, test and debug circuits and systems• Desired experience with Bluetooth, FM, NFC, digital communications theory, FPGA’s and have designed for the consumer marketplace.Keywords: PCB design, RF, Radio Knowledge, RF DVT, schematic capture, layout, DVT, Cadence, Orcad, ADS, Matlab

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
