As a Post Silicon Power Characterization Engineer with a focus on ARM SoC components targeted at the data center, you will work to characterize the power consumption of our SoCs. You will help set up methodologies, come up with power characterization plans, and verify that the newly arrived silicon meets the power expectations across data center workloads. You will also participate in architecture/product definition for the next generation of SoC by closing the loop with real silicon validation.

Roles and Responsibilities

+ Define and execute Silicon Power Characterization plans for complex server SOC

+ Collect power data across temperatures, voltages, and frequencies across corner silicon

+ Evaluate power consumption under data center workloads and characterize relative to workload performance

+ Lead collaborative test approach with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure power is tested and optimized on time

+ Work closely with supporting teams in design, diagnostics, emulation, firmware, design verification and software to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival, enablement of IP functionality upon silicon arrival, and debug of critical features

+ Develop deep knowledge of system architecture to enable power characterization strategy

+ Drive technical innovation to enhance capabilities in SOC characterization including tools and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives

+ Complete comprehensive characterization analysis and write detailed reports of findings.

Preferred Qualifications

+ 10 to 15+ years of practical experience in post silicon power testing of SoCs

+ Strong programming/scripting skills (C/C++, Python, Ruby, Perl, Tcl scripts)

+ Strong analytical skills for test creation and debug

+ Strong communication and collaboration skills

+ Must excel in a dynamic team working environment

+ Must be a self-starter and be able to independently drive tasks to completion

+ Proven experience in server workload characterization for SoC power characterization and optimization

+ Experience in silicon that is destined for the data center

+ Experience in ARM v8 and v9 specifications

+ Solid grasp of power characterization techniques and the equipment used

+ Extensive experience in following technical areas:

+ Power characterization analysis

+ Server worklaods

+ Board / platform-level operation, including power delivery and power measurement

+ Modern lab equipment, including DAQs and oscilloscopes

+ Computer hardware and architecture (experience with datacenter servers a plus)

Physical Requirements

+ Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

+ Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

+ Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

+ Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

+ Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
