What We Can Achieve Together:

The Senior Finance Manager supports TNC’s Marketing and Communications Division (MAC) in a wide range of financial services, including financial management, reporting and analysis, and general data management. They analyze information to achieve results, solve complex problems, and serve as a key team member for the enhancement of processes and workflows. They provide support, direction, and training to all levels of personnel on financial matters and manage finance personnel for the division.

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for managing MAC finances, including effectively planning, reporting, and communicating our divisional financial results and plans. They manage the full budget life cycle of the Division which includes leading the development of the annual budget, forecasting future financials, and leading efficient and clean year-end closing. They are accountable for ensuring a balanced budget at the end of the fiscal year. They work with leadership and budget managers across the Division to ensure we are on track to meet budget throughout the year; they provide variance analysis summaries to executive management, elevating risks and opportunities as appropriate; they are familiar with the ins and outs of the MAC strategy and align budget details accordingly and they document assumptions and track funding sources and internal investment requests.

They are responsible for all data entry and working with the Analytics team to determine the data infrastructure that meets the reporting needs of the program, including constituent data in the organizations CRM. They are responsible for managing net assets, processing journal entries and the processing of all financial transactions. They oversee a small team that supports data entry, financial transactions, and guidance to the Division.

The Sr. Manager is also responsible for financial compliance with TNC policies and procedures, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring accuracy of financial documents, revenue coding, and business processes. They drive corrective measures and consistency with corporate policies.

As Senior Finance Manager, you will:

  • Distributes and reviews finance performance reports with budget managers on a monthly basis to ensure that we are tracking to meet goals, and develop additional analysis as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities and efficiencies, and designs process improvements related to forecasting, reporting, modeling and analysis
  • Applies advanced understanding of TNC finance and MAC strategy to multiple situations to conduct analysis and evaluate results.
  • Prepares executive level financial presentations utilized by senior management
  • Prepares financial models; provides ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Participates in driving solutions to key analytical, strategic and business challenges
  • Ensure TNC policies and procedures and financial standards requirements are met.
  • Supervise one or more professional staff.
  • Expert user of TNC’s financial management system and budgeting system.
  • Provide financial assistance to staff and responds to complex staff/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of finances and budgets.
  • Oversee and/or directly perform general accounting duties.
  • Decisions may bind organization financially and legally.
  • Manages and implements multiple projects.
  • May participate in complex negotiations.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning personnel and other organizational information.
  • Supervise one or more administrative or professional staff.
  • Occasional travel is required for business meetings, team retreats, and/or training.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

We’re Looking for You:

The ideal candidate will have all or some of these qualifications. If you don’t have all of them, apply anyway and tell us about your skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data, identifying reporting needs, and preparing recommendations to management
  • Technical expert on complex accounting/financial issues. Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Experience monitoring for and ensuring financial compliance with organizational policy, applicable law and regulation, and finance/accounting/management best practices.
  • Experience analyzing a regulatory framework and applying it to the situation at hand.
  • Experience working in non-profit sector.
  • Experience developing budgets in collaboration with business partners.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues independently within program area.
  • Experience acting as a resource to others to solve problems.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Experience recruiting, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Experience with GAAP.
  • Experience, coursework or other training with U.S. Federal Uniform Guidance, state and local regulations, multilateral and international regulations, and standard contract clauses, as applicable.
  • CPA or CIA may be required.
