What We Can Achieve Together:

The Conservation and Operations Coordinator (COC) provides conservation project management, data entry, administrative support to the Associate State Director, and conservation project team support, while being responsible for a variety of operational activities in support of the Rhode Island Chapter.

Specifically, the Conservation and Operations Coordinator will manage conservation data, develop project packages, respond to landowner inquiries, producing maps using GIS software and maintain manual project records and digitize them. This position will also be responsible for performing multiple administrative functions related to the Rhode Island Chapter including: scheduling and coordinating logistics for events and meetings, purchasing, and facility management. They will use available systems and resources to maintain, track, and research data, and to produce and review reports. They will apply established processes and practices to improve effectiveness and to document program procedures for reference by staff. They will coordinate activities with multiple variables, set realistic deadlines and manage the timeline. The COC will handle inquiries about the Rhode Island Chapter’s activities. They will work cooperatively with Conservancy staff, providing information necessary to make decisions and solve problems. The COC may communicate on behalf of their supervisor with internal and external sources, including staff, landowners, donors, vendors, and businesses to coordinate arrangements, convey information, and ensure successful execution of the program. Work will be done primarily in an office setting. This can be a hybrid job with a minimum of two days per week expected in our Providence office.

The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following essential functions:

  • Perform duties under general supervision and established guidelines;
  • Coordinates multiple tasks or projects in a timely manner and with attention to detail;
  • Make day-to-day decisions as delegated by the supervision within the scope of work assignments;
  • Identify routine problems and utilize existing resources for resolution, referring difficult questions and problems to supervisor;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
  • Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise volunteers, interns, or temporary staff;
  • Financial responsibility may include purchasing, contracting with vendors, and assisting with budget tracking; and
  • Serve as a team member for assigned projects.
  • The Conservation Coordinator may work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience handling standard business communications.
  • Experience coordinating and completing tasks independently with multiple priorities and timelines using different sources for data management, reporting, and manual files.
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people to plan, administer, and record results of team meetings and activities.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Database skills, including entering, managing, and tracking data, and producing reports.
  • Driver’s license
  • GIS experience
