JOB SUMMARY:

Under the collaboration of the Chief Medical Officer, the Same Day Medical Provider’s primary responsibility is to provide same-day care to patients of all ages presenting on the walk-in cue. Patient concerns range from medication refill requests to urgent needs related to injury and acute illness. A preference will be given to providers with strong procedural skills including splinting, suturing, incision and drainage of abscesses, toenail removal, fluorescein application for eye injury, joint injection, and experience in urgent care. Providers with experience in primary care are also preferred as this role requires a focus on ensuring each patient’s greater healthcare needs are met. A strong walk-in provider will identify and provide care related to chronic conditions, including ensuring follow-up with the primary care provider.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides primary care to patients, including histories, exams, lab tests, prescriptions, and referrals within prescribed up-to-date guidelines and protocols.
Performs accurate and timely documentation of histories, subjective findings, physical exams, plans, and prescriptions with timely follow-up in EHR after the visit.
Assures that health education is provided with each patient encounter when applicable.
Provides patients with information concerning their evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
Engages patients in participation and decisions involving their healthcare.
Provides counseling for patients on diet, hygiene, and preventative healthcare.
Actively participates in quality improvement for clinic efficiencies and improving patient quality of care
Consult physicians or colleagues when needed for complicated cases that are outside of the scope of practice.
Maintains and improves professional knowledge and skills by participating in seminars, accredited home study, in-service education and /or individualized preceptorship.  Maintains current clinical competence through self-study, review of professional journals, etc.
The Employee will participate and attend assigned organizational meetings and participate in performance improvement activities.
Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The provider will see on average 10-15 patients per shift. Shifts are weekdays and weekends from Tuesday-Thursday 9A – 6P and Friday – Monday 9A-6P or 1P-11P. Each provider will work with the CMO and Medical Executive Assistant to select shifts that meet clinic staffing needs. Each provider can expect to work a minimum of 6-weekend shifts per month. Efforts will be made to have a primary location, though the provider can expect to float to other clinics to meet staffing needs. The provider will have 1 or 2 nurses on his or her team and will be responsible for triage, intake, provision of in-clinic needs, and follow-up.
QUALIFICATIONS:

FNP: Graduate from an NP program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Master’s degree or higher. Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
PA-C: Graduate from a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Permanent, current, full and unrestricted FNP or PA license in any state in the United States, Territory or District of Columbia.
Current, full, and unrestricted DEA license.
Minimum of one year experience working in an urgent care or emergency medical care setting.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications or be able to obtain them within 60 days of hire.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Must possess a valid driver license and be eligible for coverage under WRFCHC auto insurance policy.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check under the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (P.L.101-630).
